Highlights of the holiday

Immerse yourself in the natural surrounds of northern & southern Majella as you embark on a semi-guided 7 day walking holiday.  Marvel at magnificent mountains and gorges, witness amazing wildlife and enjoy warm hospitality and fine Abruzzo cuisine.

Activities by days

Day 1 – Arrive Pretoro
On arrival in Pretoro, meet with your guide for an introduction to the week ahead. Enjoy a wonderful dinner of traditional Abruzzo cuisine. Overnight in Pretoro for 3 nights on a bed & breakfast basis.
Day 2 - Full day guided walk on the wolves’ trails
Your first full day on this walking holiday begins with an exciting guided walk along some of the magnificent paths that cross through this mountainous wilderness.  Designed to give you good understanding of Majella and it’s fauna on this walk you will pass through Calvario hamlet to Masserie di Zi’ Luca.  This evening you are free to enjoy more tasty Abruzzo mountain cuisine.
(Note: an alternative mountain or valley walk will be taken during the summer months of July, August & September due to the very hot weather).
Day 3 – Wolf Enclosure and Foro Valley
Enjoy a guided visit to the Wolf Enclosure this morning, a small research project that also helps with education about wolves in the wild. After a short loop walk you will head out this afternoon on a self-guided walk in the Foro Valley.
Day 4 - Self-guided walk, return to Rome
After breakfast you will depart Pretoro and head south to Campo di Giove. Along the way stop at Lama dei Peligni where there is a visitor centre with information about the rare Appenine chamois which are found high on the rocky slopes of Majella. After arriving at your hotel spend the afternoon at leisure, maybe relax in the pool or explore the local area before an introduction this evening to wolf howling with a local guide.
Day 5 - Full day guided walk on the the wolves’ trails
You will head out again today with your guide on a full day walk in search of wolves.  As the sun sets you will scan the mountain meadows and woodland edges for wolves and other wildlife. There may also be some additional wolf howling too.
Day 6 – A day at leisure
Today you are free to enjoy this stunning region at your own pace.  Drive to Scanno and do one of the walks in the area or maybe visit the ancient town of Sulmona.  You may wish to set out on an alternative walk in Campo di Giove or simply relax by the pool at the hotel.  
Day 7  - Return to UK
Return to Rome or Pescara today for your flight back to the UK.
