And the winner is ...

One of the weekly winners of our online competition admits he has never been to the PAN Park about which he answered questions correctly to win our weekly prize but would love to see Archipelago in Finland. The competition ’Explore Europe’s Wild Treasures’ has been running for a few weeks now and you might have wondered who the lucky weekly winners were having received useful items of outdoor gear and maps, books about PAN Parks.

In the first 7 weeks of the competition there were 4 weekly winners from the UK, and 1-1 from Finland, Portugal and Slovakia. They received prizes that could be useful when visiting PAN Parks for a wilderness experience: belt bag, mug, compass, vest, flask and maps, books about PAN Parks.

We talked to one of the winners from the UK in a mini-interview: The winner, a Railway Signalling Engineer, tells us he could well use the compass he won as he likes to visit areas with 'unusual' wildlife and breathtaking scenery. He thinks Archipelago in Finland just sounds thrilling, island hopping from one beautiful nature spot to another, and another, and another... His understanding of wilderness is very much in line with the PAN Parks concept: ’a region which is uninhabited, unexplored and unspoilt by man.’

We hope those who got to know and signed up for the competition will also have a better understanding of wilderness and will learn and spread the word about the fact that there is wilderness in Europe. Hopefully they will all feel like winners as they learn about extraordinary areas in Europe which could be their destination for a next holiday!

You can still sign up for the competition on http://www.winaholiday.panparks.org
