Short history

The Paanajärvi area has been the meeting point of two cultures for  along time. This was where the traditions of West and East mixed. Here, the culture of the White-Sea Karelian's, later Russian and Finnish cultures met peacefully. Paanajärvi was established as a national park in 1992.
