Flora
The combination of climate and the meagre sand bedrock has given rise to peculiar vegetation. Large areas of the plateau are covered with a thick carpet of reindeer lichen which is unique as it has not been grazed by reindeer or any other domestic animals for a long period.
Fauna
Flagship species are elk, bear, lynx and beaver. |
