Benefits in PAN Parks analysed

The cost and benefit analysis of PAN Parks will be prepared as part of the Research Network’s activities. The goal of this study is to collect comparative data from the various Certified PAN Parks to determine the socio-cultural and economic benefits of PAN Park status for communities and tourism development in the surrounding areas.

Bieszczady’s tourism development acknowledged

Bieszczady National Park, Poland is the fourth PAN Park to receive full certification as its sustainable tourism development has also been successfully verified. This was the conclusion of the verification team after its field visit in the park at the beginning of July.

Good progress in Bieszczady in 2004

Certified PAN Park Bieszczady in Poland has made improvements in conservation and visitor management during 2004, and the park has developed a Sustainable Tourism Development Strategy (STDS) – stated verifiers who visited the Polish park for annual monitoring and verification.

Monitoring in Bieszczady

In its first annual monitoring visit, Bieszczady shows that it is living up to the PAN Park title. Rachel Wieting, monitoring verifier visited the area in November 2003 with the main purpose to check progress on the requests and recommendations made by verifiers in 2002 when Bieszczady was certified as a PAN Park.

Canon is active in Bieszczady
