Verification audit
The PAN Parks verification system audit was conducted by Xavier Font from Leeds Metropolitan University in August 2004 and by Richard Tapper from Environment Business& Development Group in 2006, both from the United Kingdom. Audit 2008 is already under preparation. The successful audit demonstrated that the verification system is a robust management system with clear and well-recorded procedures. At the same time it was also found that the main challenges for PAN Parks are to move from ecology-based criteria to sustainable tourism. PAN Parks procedures were audited against ISO standards and tourism-specific proposals for the application of standards.
