Čepkeliai-Dzūkija National Park offers fabulous scenery of endless boglands

The unique Lithuanian PAN Park offers fabulous scenery of endless boglands and pine forests, with fast-flowing rivers

When travelling around the national park, pine trees will be your constant companions: they will be everywhere from the top of dunes and river slopes to rolling plains and vast marshes. Even a short stroll in the park reveals their diversity as flooded and mainland meadows, raised bogs and fens, and sand dunes alternate, giving home to many different plants and animals.

This veil of forests and swampy woods is intersected by a lot of rivers and rivulets, making this the perfect destination for an adventurous canoe trip down one of its faster-flowing streams. Or if you are more into the relaxing, meditative type of hiking, make sure you find on your way one of the watch-towers, looking out onto open wide spaces of sandy plains, bog pine forests and river valleys.

Hiding among the woods are fairytale villages of ancient history, so after a little mushroom-hunting or berry-picking, do not miss the opportunity to get acquainted with the architecture as well as the traditions and the nature-friendly lifestyle of the people living in the Dzukija villages.
