Borjormi Kharagauli promotes itself as PAN Park

Following certification earlier this year, Borjormi Kharagauli National Park has become an enthusiastic member of the PAN Parks family. It has been raising the profile of PAN Parks in both in Georgia and at travel fairs abroad. For the third year running the national park participated in the Caucasus International 10th Travel Fair in Tbilisi in April. This was an excellent opportunity to promote the park both to international tour operators looking at Georgia as a potential destination and to the domestic tourism market.

Another good opportunity to demonstrate the potential of Borjormi Kharaguali National Park as a sustainable tourism destination was through the "Journalists International Centre Conference" in Borjomi. Participants included Georgian, Russian and Armenian journalists. The event was organised by the USA journalists International Centre and a one day field trip to the park included a visit to the WWF CauPo supported project "Bezoar Goat Reintroduction Project". They were presented with material promoting the park as a member of the PAN Parks network. The event resulted in good media coverage including a feature on the main Georgian TV channel "Imedi" encouraging Georgians to visit Borjormi Kharagauli and showing what the national park can offer them.

A new Tourist Information Centre is opening in Borjomi this month. The local municipality and State Tourism Authority of Georgia is carrying out the project. The Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park will be presented there with information materials, boards and a national park map with tourist trails.
It is one of the most important tools to attract Georgian tourists, because Borjomi is the most famous spa for Georgians in summer time. Through the centre most of the visitors will get the information about the park as well and it will offer them special tours in the park.
