These small projects carried out before the establishment of the Small Grants Fund supported responsible visitor management in accord with PAN Parks aims: to make nature visible and allow for a high-quality nature experience with minimum environmental impact.
- Fish-otter monitoring project, Slovensky raj National Park (1999)

- Relocation of observation tower to a less environmentally sensitive area, Biebrza National Park (2000)

- PAN Parks started an e-commerce pilot project in 2000 in Bialowieza National Park, Poland. Project participants - small business owners and accommodation holders - were being promoted online with the aim of improving visitor flow to the park to the benefit of local PAN Park partners and supporting their partnership with park authorities and the WWF. In January 2003 the project co-ordination was taken over by WWF Poland, Bialowieza Project Office. Project participants cannot use the PAN Parks name and logo anymore but the Foundation still supports the project financially. Visit www.park.bialowieza.com
