Renewal verification in Central Balkan National Park

Following the  PAN Parks verification procedure, Central Balkan National Park is going to be the third park undergoing renewal verification of the PAN Parks standard.
The PAN Parks verification process works in a five years cycle. At the end of the cycle the PAN Parks Foundation and the protected area sign a new contract expressing interest and commitment to co-operate for another five years.

Alone in Wildlife – Central Balkan National Park Directorate trains kids through adventure

The Central Balkan National Park Directorate commemorated the 22nd of September – the International Car Free Day – with a special children’s contest named “Alone in Wildlife”. The event took place in the area of the Byala reka Eco-path and the Dzhendema Eco-centre in the territory of one of the park sections - to be more precise – Kalofer. Fourteen kids between the ages of six and twelve from the municipalities of Teteven, Troyan, Apriltzi, Gabrovo and Kazanlak participated in the day’s events.

Ildiko's story - a traveller's tale from the Bulgarian PAN Parks

As part of the recent press trip to both the certified Bulgarian PAN Parks last month, Ildiko Losonci, finance supervisor from the PAN Parks management team had the opportunity to sample what Rila and Central Balkan National Parks can offer for the discerning eco-tourist. This was here first trip to discover the realities of a PAN Park after spending her time co-ordinating the financial mechanisms that operate behind the scenes.  Read her traveller's tale.

Co-operating with the World Tourism Organisation

PAN Parks and the World Tourism Organisation (WTO) will co-operate in testing sustainability indicators in the field in one of the Certified PAN Parks in Bulgaria. This was the result of discussions held at Europe's Wilderness Days and follow-up negotiations.

Dutch readers support Bulgarian PAN Park

The Dutch outdoor magazine OpPad has launched a special fundraising campaign for PAN Parks among its readers. The OpPad editors have adapted a plan from Central Balkan National Park to convert two former poacher shelters into a new information center. The action is in cooperation with Tiscali, one of the biggest internet providers in the Netherlands.
